Concentration Camp in Auschwitz is known by everyone as an symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust. During Second World War it was the biggest German, Nazi Concentration Camp (1940 - 1945).
• Auschwitz I, the first and oldest camp, established as an place of work for slave labourers and as an camp administration – sightseeing – approx 2 hours
• Auschwitz II – Birkenau, established in a distance of 3 km from Auschwitz I, first as a Concentration Camp but later transformed to a death camp with gas chambers and crematoria – sightseeing – approx 1 hour After liberation in 1945 Polish government decided to set up a museum in Memory of Nazi Victims.
